IRVING-RELATED: PBIS, SOCIAL EMOTIONAL, & SECOND STEP

SECOND STEP

This week our students completed our sixth lesson in Second Step.  Our kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students discussed feelings, such as naming your own feelings and recognizing the feelings of others.  The 3rd grade and 4th grade students learned about understanding different perspectives. The 5th grade students worked on the importance of accepting differences.  This week there are home links for kindergarten, 1st grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade students.

In addition to these emails, you can find information regarding PBIS and Second Step on our Irving Webpage through the PBIS & Second Step link on the left.

As always, if you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to reach out.

IRVING PACERS

In its fifth week, PACERS is still going strong.  This week we had our very own staff and students providing all those doing PACERS with some lively drum music!

PACERS is Irving's very own weekly 'running club.' During lunch recess, students run around the perimeter of the school [Cuyler to Harvard, Harvard to Ridgeland, Ridgeland to Fillmore, Fillmore to Cuyler and back around]. Three laps around the school equals one mile and a foot charm.

Next week is the last PACERS so if you would like to volunteer please sign up.  In order for this program to be successful, we need 10 parent volunteers to supervise the students as they run. Sign up here to learn more and help us run this very important program.

FUN RUN (OCTOBER 18TH)

The FUN RUN is this Friday, October 18th. Come cheer on your child as they run laps on the school's turf.

The scheduled run times are as follows:

  • 1st: 9:25 a.m. - 9:55 a.m.

All students who have registered for the FUN RUN online or through the envelope above will be entered in to our raffle, with incentives including a pedometer, a school spirit gift certificate, a Monster squishy, and an Irving water bottle!!!  A winner from grades K-2nd and 3rd-5th will be randomly chosen.

The two (2) winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 23rd during morning announcements. Good luck and thanks for your support of our school!

Do you want to be the Irving Eagle and cheer on the students as they run?  Or help hand out bananas and water?  If so, please sign up.  We still have various spots available for volunteers on race day.  Please visit this link to sign up.
