Students in grades six through eight are welcome to join the cross countryteam. Cross Country is a no-cut sport at the middle schools, but participation on the team will be open to the first 75 runners who return all required forms and attend their first practice.
Athletes should wear running shoes, proper apparel and bring a water bottle. They must have a sports physical in order to participate (including practices). Students will not be permitted to start with the team without all necessary paperwork. All students must have a copy of an updated physical to hand to the coach (we will not have access to nurse's files) before practicing for the 2019-2020 cross country season.
This season, student runners will be required to adhere to our attendance policy to remain eligible to run in meets. All runners are expected to be at ALL practices during the regular season. After three unexcused absences, students will be removed from the team for the remainder of the season.
Most meets will take place on Saturdays from early in the morning to early afternoon. Some local meets may be scheduled after school. Information about meets will be shared with families as the events are scheduled. While some meets will allow for all of our runners to participate, others do feature limits on the total number of entries. Runners attendance, behavior, and overall effort and performance at practice will be taken into consideration when creating rosters for limited entry meets.
Pre-Season Practice Information
For all practices, coaches will meet the students at the back of Brooks off of the Clinton Street entrance.
