Amanda Siegfried

Senior Director of Communications and Engagement

My name is Amanda Siegfried, and I have been part of the District 97 communications team since August 2017. I started in Oak Park as a digital communications coordinator, and held the position for two years before being appointed as the director of communications in August 2019. I was named senior director of communications in 2021.

As the senior director of communications and engagement, I provide leadership and direction for all internal and external district communication, including publications, social media, and community relations, consistent with a well-defined strategy that supports and aligns with the district’s equity policy. I work closely with a wide variety of individuals across the district to promote our successes, build parent and community support, and strengthen public confidence in our schools. I am also the primary media contact for the district, and serve as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) officer.

Prior to joining District 97, I served three years as the communications and community relations supervisor for Cook County School District 130, a K-8 district in Blue Island. I started my career in 2010 as the founding editor of the local news website Lemont Patch, where I spent three years leading all reporting, editing, social media and marketing efforts. I hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
