District 97 will welcome students back to school on Wednesday, Aug. 25! To help families prepare, here is some helpful back-to-school information. This page will be updated throughout the summer.

Impact of COVID-19

District 97 is currently planning for a full return for the 2021-22 school year while following the safety guidelines set forth by state and local health departments. On July 9, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) fully adopted the updated guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for COVID-19 prevention in K-12 schools. The District 97 administrative team has started working through the new guidance, and we are in consultation with the Oak Park Department of Public Health regarding its implications for the 2021-22 school year. Because the guidance allows for more local decisions regarding specific mitigation measures, we are carefully assessing all of our options before finalizing our plans. We anticipate releasing our updated safety measures and protocols in the coming weeks so that students, staff and families have ample time to prepare for a safe and successful return to school.

Remote Learning Eligibility for 2021-22

The IDPH announcement included a declaration from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) that all schools must resume fully in-person learning for all student attendance days during the 2021-22 school year. Per ISBE, schools must provide full in-person learning for students, while remote instruction must be available for students who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine or who are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine, only while they are under a quarantine order by the state or local health department. You can read more in the IDPH press release.  As a district, this means that all students are slated to return to full in-person learning, with the exception of students who meet the criteria above and students who are medically fragile (click here to view medical exemption list).
