Visual Arts is an integral part of the D97 Core Curriculum and balances academic learning to develop the whole child. Our Art Curriculum is experiential; students learn best by doing. Making art involves hands-on activities, often collaborative, that expand the imagination and build community. In art class, students are introduced to a variety of materials and processes which help regulate the nervous system and support social-emotional growth. D97 students learn about culture and identity by exploring diverse artists and art methods. Making art sharpens the powers of observation and concentration, allows students to take risks and builds creative problem-solving skills they will use throughout their lives.
