Update Regarding Remote Learning Plan and Gov. Pritzker's Announcement

On Friday afternoon, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced that he is closing all public and private schools in the state beginning Tuesday, March 17, through Monday, March 30.

As previously announced, District 97 will hold a Remote Learning Day on Monday, March 16. The District 97 administrative team is working through the updated guidance provided by the Illinois State Board of Education today, and will provide another update to families no later than Monday evening.

Spring break will still be observed Monday, March 23, through Friday, March 27.

Remote Learning (E-Learning) Assignments

Each day, your child’s teacher will upload assignments for a variety of subjects—both digital and non-digital—totaling approximately 5 hours of work. Materials and instructions will be shared by 8 a.m. for elementary schools and 9 a.m. for middle schools. All assignments will be posted on each school’s Remote Learning page (www.op97.org/remotelearning).
 

Attendance

Classroom teachers will send student attendance forms each morning. These forms must be completed each day. Middle-school students must complete the form for each period.
 

Teacher Support

Your child’s teacher will be available for a minimum of two hours every day for office hours and support. Times will be communicated by each teacher.
 

Specialized Instructional Needs

The District 97 Student Services Department will ensure that specific needs of students with individualized education plans (IEPS) and require specialized instructional supports. They will follow up with additional information.

Sports, Clubs, and District Events

All District 97 school events, club meetings, performances, sports practices and competitions, and field trips are canceled until further notice. We have also postponed in-person registration dates and our previously scheduled Educator Career Fair (April 3).
