7/22 Special Board Meeting: Instructional Delivery Models/Remote Learning Plan

As we continue to see the number of COVID-19 cases rise locally and around the country, our board, administration and staff have been working through the logistics and challenges of safely reopening school under a hybrid learning model. We are planning everything from symptom screening to managing lunch and bathroom breaks, while simultaneously preparing a robust remote learning plan to support our students when they are not onsite. We are having serious conversations every day with our staff and building principals, and our team is reviewing the attached 200 questions from the Oak Park Teachers’ Association along with hundreds of others submitted by District 97 employees and families.

To help us plan for Fall 2020, the district sent a Google form to all families Friday in order to determine whether they would be requesting a full remote learning option for their students for Trimester 1. Although many families have already completed this form, we understand that there are many others who would like more detailed information about our hybrid and remote learning models before making a final decision.

Accordingly, the District 97 Board of Education has scheduled another special board meeting for Wednesday, July 22, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss details of our remote learning plan for 2020-21 and answer many of the questions we have received from families and staff.

We are planning to share the presentation immediately following the meeting, and a recording of the meeting will be made available by Thursday morning. Access information is provided below. Click here for the meeting agenda >

District 97 is closely monitoring the latest information about COVID-19, and will continue to make decisions that prioritize the health and safety of our students, staff, families and community. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the challenges of reopening school, and we look forward to providing more details on our plans Wednesday.

Sincerely.

Dr. Carol Kelley
Superintendent
