Dear Julian Staff and Families,
District 97 values the voice of students, staff and community members. As we begin the search for the individual who will serve as the next principal of Julian Middle School, one of the first steps is to create a profile of the ideal candidate for the position based on feedback from the school’s stakeholders. There are several ways to participate in the process:
Brief Survey for Staff/Families - Julian Principal Profile
The district created a brief survey that the Julian community can use to share their thoughts about the leadership qualities and characteristics they believe the next principal should possess.
Please fill out our survey, which will remain open until Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023.
Brief Survey for Julian Students
All Julian students will have the opportunity to complete a brief principal survey co-created by the student leadership team during their Strategies of Academics and Resilience (SOAR) time on Monday, Dec. 18.
Listening Sessions
We will also be collecting feedback through multiple listening sessions with staff, families and students.

Staff and Family Interview Teams
Once the principal profile is built from stakeholder input, it will be used to perform an initial screening of applicants for the position. Through that screening, candidates will be invited to participate in interviews with district/school administrators. From there, a selection of candidates will interview with staff and family interview teams. Our goal is to present a candidate to the Board of Education by early Spring 2024.
Individuals who are interested in serving on the staff or family interview teams must complete the second part of the Principal Profile Survey by Thursday, Dec. 14.
