Julian Middle School is excited to announce that José Gamiño will be joining Julian Middle School as associate principal of climate, culture, and athletics/clubs for the 2024-25 school year.
Mr. Gamiño joins District 97 with over 20 years of experience in education, in both teaching and leadership. Most recently, he served as a high school English teacher at Mechinas Ner Naftali High School in Lincolnwood. Prior to this role, Mr. Gamiño dedicated over two decades to students in Chicago Public Schools, where he taught social studies and led his colleagues as social studies department chair.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gamiño has taken on multiple leadership positions to support student success. He served as the AVID coordinator, leading initiatives to advance college readiness, and as the evening school and credit recovery coordinator, providing critical support to students needing additional academic assistance. He also contributed as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, where he helped shape school policies and support effective instructional strategies.
Additionally, Mr. Gamińo was actively involved in grade-level and school-wide teams, including MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports), PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), and RTI (response to intervention), commiting to an inclusive and supportive school culture and climate for all students.
Mr. Gamiño holds a bachelor’s degree in education from DePaul University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education.
Mr. Gamiño will join Associate Principal Butler to support the day-to-day operations of Julian by ensuring excellent core instruction and the integration of social/emotional support for all students, especially around grade-level transitions. Ms. Butler will continue to oversee teaching, learning and the arts, and Mr. Gamiño will oversee climate and culture, as well as all athletics and clubs.
