Information about Returning Student Registration for 2020-21

Due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus), registration for the 2020-21 school year in District 97 will be entirely online.

An email sent May 6 from InfoSnap (PowerSchool Enrollment) to all returning families stated that registration must be completed within seven days. We understand that families may need additional time to complete this process. To clarify, registration for returning students will be open May 6 through May 20, 2020.

Submitting your child’s registration by May 20 will help the district determine student enrollment and accurately plan staffing, room assignments, devices, materials, etc. We ask that all families complete the online registration as soon as possible once they receive their snapcode email.

Detailed information about the returning registration process is available on the district website at https://www.op97.org/hr/student-registration. We have included some frequently asked questions below. If you have any additional questions, please email [email protected].

*Please note that Kindergarten and New Student Registration will be open through June 6. Families who wish to enroll a kindergartner or new student should start the registration process now by completing a Google survey form on our website.

FAQs

Q:  When was the snapcode email sent?
A:
Returning student snapcodes were emailed on Wednesday, May 6, from [email protected] and sent to the first parent listed in our system - likely the parent who registered the student last year. You will receive a separate email for each returning student.

Q:  How do I complete online registration?
A:
Returning student parents need to review the pre-populated data and make any necessary updates and upload any required documents. Remember to click the [submit] button after you have completed everything; you will not be able to make any changes after you click [submit]. If this button is grayed out, then you have forgotten to answer a mandatory field, or you have a phone number in an incorrect format - use ###-###-####

Q:  Do I need to upload a certified birth certificate?
A:
Only new students and kindergartners will need to upload a certified birth certificate. If you are currently unable to get a certified birth certificate due to the restrictions created by COVID-19, please submit your registration now and provide the certificate prior to the start of school. The district will continue to exercise flexibility as the situation evolves.

Q:  Do I need a Child Health Examination/Immunization Form, Dental Exam form or Eye Exam form?
A:
The health requirements are found on the Medical page once you log into InfoSnap (PowerSchool Enrollment). If you are currently unable to get a health exam, dental exam, or eye exam form due to the restrictions created by COVID-19, please submit your registration now and provide these forms prior to the start of school. The district will continue to exercise flexibility as the situation evolves. Additionally, health forms are good for one year, so you may upload your most recent form as long as it is dated later than August 24, 2019.

Q: What are the acceptable documents to prove residency?
A
: The required proof of residency documents are listed on our website.

Q: What is the process for permissive transfers?
A:
Permissive transfers are granted for students who move to a new school attendance area, but want to remain at their original neighborhood school for a variety of reasons. Families that have moved or plan to move to a new attendance area should apply for a permissive transfer between June 1 and August 1, 2020.
