Todd Fitzgerald Resigns as Principal of Julian Middle School

Todd Fitzgerald has resigned as the principal of Julian Middle School to accept the superintendent position in Komarek School District 94 in North Riverside. His appointment was approved by the District 94 Board of Education during a special meeting on May 19.

The District 97 Board of Education is expected to accept Fitzgerald’s resignation during its meeting on Tuesday, May 26. His final day with District 97 will be June 30, 2020.

The district will immediately begin exploring the options that are available for filling the principal position at Julian and will keep the community updated on the status of these efforts.

Below is a statement from Superintendent Carol Kelley regarding this announcement. Fitzgerald's letter to Julian families can be viewed here.

Todd Fitzgerald has been an incredible principal for District 97 for the past eight years. I want to thank him for his hard work, professionalism, and significant contributions to the growth and success of Julian Middle School. Although we are sad to see him go, I am proud that one of our district leaders has the opportunity to take on a superintendency. We wish him nothing but the best as he begins this new chapter in his career.

In terms of our plans for finding Todd’s replacement, those efforts will begin immediately and will include a discussion of how best to engage Julian students, staff and families in the process. We will keep everyone updated on the status of our efforts.
