Eric Bachmann
5th Grade Teacher
Greetings! My name is Eric Bachmann, and I am proud to be a new 5th grade teacher here at Longfellow!
This is my first year in Oak Park, but this will be my 11th year teaching. I received my Bachelors Degree from Ohio University, and began my teaching career after graduating with my Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Chicago. I taught my first few years in the city, moved to Denver, Colorado and taught for 7 years, and am excited to be back in the midwest as we begin to raise our children!
My wife, Melissa, and I have one boy Henry, and are expecting our baby girl this September. We are so excited to have the opportunity to be parents, and we learn something new about it every day. I was born and raised in Carmel, New York, the oldest of 7. My wife was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, an only child. We were told we wouldn't be able to have children, and yet number 2 is on the way. We are very fortunate!
When we aren't quarantining, we love to travel and spend time outdoors, camping and hiking. I am very passionate about gardening, reading, music, video gaming and learning. I am excited to find out your students' hobbies, interests and strengths as we begin our journey together.
