Assistant Principal

Hello Longfellow!  I am so excited to embark upon my first year as Assistant Principal at Longfellow Elementary School!  While this is my first year at District 97, I am not new to education.  I have 20 years of experience from Chicago Public Schools where I taught a variety of grades including 4th grade, as well as 6th-8th grade English Language Arts and Social Sciences.  I have worn multiple hats in my extensive career including After School Programming Coordinator, MTSS/Instructional Support Coach, Team Lead, and most recently an Assistant Principal at a large urban school in Chicago.  I love bringing the outside world into classrooms where students can see their learning come to life and meet with real life experts.  I have spearheaded efforts to bring lawyers into the classroom, started a poetry initiative for grades Kinder-8th grades and even brought a Holocaust survivor into schools to speak to students.

I LOVE poetry and always appreciate a good book, so please share any new books that you are reading with me when you see me in the hallways of Longfellow.  If you see me in the hallway or on the playground, please give me a big smile and say, "HI"; I also love fist bumps or high fives.

When I'm not at Longfellow, my husband Rob and myself are cheering on our two sons, Samson (12) and Elijah (8) at their soccer games and traveling to various tournaments.  We love going out to eat, watching the latest movies and laughing often :)
